ADMISSIONS GUIDE

DOCUMENTS
Prepare the documents required for application:

  • scanned copy of your international passport*;
  • translation of your passport into Russian** / English;
  • educational documents: high school diploma with transcript*** or any other educational document with transcript;
  • translation of your educational documents into Russian** / English.
*your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from the start date of the course.

**you do not have to notarize any documents to apply for the preparatory course or Russian language courses, but it is required when applying for any of the main educational programs in Russian universities.

***if you still have not received your high school diploma, obtain a certificate from your school stating your grades for the last 2 semesters.

APPLICATION
Choose a program and click APPLY

Within 3-5 working days after receiving your application, we will contact you at the email address provided in the application.

Within 2 weeks after the application deadline, groups are formed and documents are reviewed.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TEST
Take the online entrance test

To determine your level of Russian language proficiency we will send you an online test along with instructions on how to take it.

We form groups in accordance with your entrance test results.

If you have not learned Russian previously, you do not need to take the test.

CONTRACT
Sign a contract

Within 2 weeks after the application deadline, we will send you a contract to sign*.
Then you will need to send us a scanned copy of the signed contract.
Once we receive the signed contract, we will get it signed and registered at the university and send you a copy of the final version of the contract.

*in case there are not enough applicants for the chosen program, we will offer you alternative available courses.

PREPAYMENT
Make an advance payment

When you receive a scan of the registered contract, you will be able to make the first payment for training. The bank details for the money transfer are written on the last page of the contract.

At the moment, transfers from abroad are difficult. You will be able to make an advance payment through a Russian bank.

If you have a Russian bank card, you can make a payment through the NSU website.

If you or your friends are in Novosibirsk, you can pay through the university cash desk in rubles or by card.

INVITATION AND VISA
Obtain a visa

After the contract is registered and prepaid, the International Department of NSU will submit an application to the Migration Service of the Russian Federation to prepare an invitation letter for you.
The preparation of an invitation usually takes 4-6 weeks.
Once the invitation is ready, we will send a digital copy of it to you via email.
At this point, you can make an appointment at the chosen Russian embassy / consulate in your country to apply for visa.
Please consult your embassy / consulate for the visa processing time.

TICKETS AND ARRIVAL
Buy tickets and travel to Russia

Once you receive your visa, you can buy tickets.
Please remember to send us scanned copies of your visa and you tickets to Novosibirsk.
After that, the International Students Support Center will contact you regarding airport transfer to the dormitory and the next steps.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE PRACTICAL COURSE

for those who prefer to start learning Russian in Russia or to improve their level of language proficiency.
We offer courses during the academic year.

PRE-UNIVERSITY COURSE

for those foreign students who plan to pursue a higher education degree at Novosibirsk State University or other universities in Russia
but have not yet reached the required level of proficiency in Russian.

SUMMER SCHOOL

for those who want to learn Russian in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, immerse themselves in Russian culture through communication with Russian friends and visiting interesting cultural sites.
